We just want to teach kids to make cool things

Our Story

Hi! We’re Cory and Alex. We met in 2015 and pretty much immediately decided we wanted to start a creative, community-centered business together.

Our early dates were filled with sketching invention ideas on napkins and our home was humming with the sound of 3d printers. Cory even started a lighting company that was featured in Interior Design Magazine, but when we got pregnant with our oldest son, he went back to the corporate world as an architect for WeWork. No, he isn’t in the documentary but he did leave his backpack in Adam Neumann’s office once.

Our passion for creating was passed on to our oldest son, whose first words were “3D printer” (just kidding it was “dog”). As soon as Elio could talk, he imagined inventions of invisible cars that drive on walls, remote controlled birds powered by the sun, and vacuums that throw and retrieve balls. It quickly became clear to us that we needed to create a place for him, and kids like him, to explore their creativity and curiosity. We believe that every child has the power to invent something incredible if provided with the right knowledge, tools, and technology.

Now, nine years and two kids after our first napkin-sketch-date, the dream has become a reality - Welcome to Coco Academy.
